About Rachael Workman and The Earthly Kitchen

Welcome to The Earthly Kitchen, my archive of published works, workshop offerings, events, and other happenings. My recent content is all on Substack. I am a freelance writer in both fiction and non-fiction hosted by various publications archived here.

Sign up for my Substack newsletter and get my latest content every week. I share essays on cultural topics, writing, books, and author interviews.

I am an MFA candidate at the Vermont College of Fine Arts, with an expected graduation date of July 2024. There, I study creative non-fiction/memoir and fiction. I have been been awarded the 2023 Social Media Fellowship, creating content for the VCFA Writing Program’s Instagram and Facebook. My work has been published on MigraineAgain.com, TheDrive.com, Rind Literary Magazine, Newberry Magazine, and The Dutch Fork Chronicle. In 2003, I won the Lillian Butler Davey Award in Communications for a short story entitled, “Mind The Gap.” I study writing with various arts organizations including Greenwich Women Pen Writers, Sackett Street Writers’ Workshop, and Westport Writers’ Workshop, and also co-host a small women’s writer group that meets monthly. Additionally, I volunteer as a reader with Hunger Mountain Review literary magazine. I am a graduate of the College of Charleston where I majored in Political Science and double minored in English and Gender Studies.

Before leaving the corporate world to be a full-time writer, I worked in regional Sales & Marketing for Nissan North America HQ in Franklin, TN, Chrysler in D.C. metro, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Division in the Western Region, based in Seattle. I am now back in my home state of Connecticut with my husband, Chad, our daughter, and 3-footed dog, Rosie.

My current WIP is a memoir about my experience as a woman in the automotive industry. I regularly publish personal narratives about migraines, writing, automotive, literature, culture, and more on my Substack Page. You can subscribe below.
